BY GEORGE ARTSITAS — Well, the other shoe finally dropped.
It wasn’t enough that the Ducks had a punishing loss to Stanford on Wednesday 81-73 to give them their first blemish in the Pac-12 season. The Ducks also incurred another 58-54 loss at Cal that really brought them back to Earth. Not a good look for a top-10 team.
Cal’s head coach Mike Montgomery is 23-0 against the Ducks in the Bay Area (he also coached Stanford a few years back) and now all the Duck fans can really do is shake their heads.
The Ducks dropped two games, without Dominic Artis, on the road. Not too concerning. But what is concerning is the uncertainty. With Artis’ return not even on the horizon, this team and head coach Dana Altman needs to fan the flames. And with a game looming next against solid conference foe Colorado, they need to fan the flames soon.
